Synopsis

One sentence synopsis
An encounter ends in tragedy when a Lebanese-Australian family is harassed by a group of soldiers at a checkpoint in outback Australia.

One paragraph synopsis
A Lebanese-Australian family is driving through outback Australia when they are stopped by a group of soldiers at a checkpoint. The soldiers claim that war games are underway nearby but it soon becomes clear that they are playing a dangerous game of their own. The father, Nedal, comes to realise that the safety of his wife and daughter rests in his hands. Checkpoint is an 11-minute film that captures contemporary concerns about the abuse of power and the increase in racism within modern Australia.
